2013 to Current

In January while camping in Sarasota, Florida we visited the Henry Ford - Thomas Edison Florida homes.  They were great friends and their homes were next door to each other.

Ford home and views
We've seen lots of alligators, but the Myakka River near Sarasota, Florida is different.  They are huge and many.  The first one was in that same place nearly everyday.  The light spot to the right is the kayak/canoe launch spot for the lake.  We decided we'd pass on kayaking the river or the lake, but many did launch and return their kayaks at this spot with the gator resting nearby.
Can you see the little ones hitching a ride?
A heron and a Roseate Spoonbill.

We've seen Caracara in Texas, but this was our first in Florida.

The Corps of Engineers RV park near Moore Haven, Florida on the Tampa-Stewart canal.

The Mohawk River/Erie Canal got up over the wall about two feet at the Ilion Marina and Campground in Ilion, New York.  We had to move for a few hours, but the boaters had a bad time.  The boaters were stranded for about a month because the canal was closed going east and west.  The good part is that we have some new friends from the experience.  If you enlarge the first picture and focus in just to the right and under the metal roof you will see a new friend carrying his wife from their boat to dry ground.

Our boating friends finally got to head off to their next adventure.
