We arrived at the beginning of The Alaskan Highway, in Dawson Creek, British Columbia on June 11th.
The road to Watson Lake, Yukon Territory.
We were getting close to town and had to stop for a stand off between two huge Wood Bison Bulls. We waited, along with other travelers, for the charge. It never happened. The bull with the harem on his side finally backed up and laid down and the other bull strolled across the road.
We finally quit stopping to look at the black bears there were so many.
These horses just seemed to be headed to town with no one guiding them.
Watson Lake and the Sign Post Forest
We caught up with Judy and Garnet
And there's an airport.
Notice the two story motor home.
Whitehorse
The resident Bald Eagle
I'm sure we've seen other "fish ladders," but this one was pretty interesting. It provides a route for salmon to swim upstream after a damn closed the normal route.
A unique log cabin
Much of the water in the rivers becomes a turquoise color because of the copper.
Wild animals
Pat holding up the wing of a float plane.
Next stop, Haines Junction
A wolf or coyote scavenging near the road
The Kluane Mountains behind the campground
Leaving for Alaska one morning our first sighting of a brown bear.
